Article: How can a garment be toxic?

Comment un vetement peut-il etre toxique?

How can a garment be toxic?

We often talk about well-being, skincare, what we eat, breathe, and apply to our skin. But rarely about what we wear.
And yet... every day, our clothes are in direct contact with our bodies. They envelop us, brush against us, and accompany us from morning to night. So, what do they really contain? And why is this question essential for our health?

What conventional clothing hides

Most commercial clothing—including clothing sold as "comfortable" or "stylish"—is made from synthetic materials derived from petroleum, such as polyester, nylon, or spandex.
These fibers are often combined with chemical treatments: industrial dyes, stain-resistant agents, antibacterial agents, fabric softeners, fixing resins, etc. The result? A material saturated with substances, some of which are known to be allergens, irritants, and even endocrine disruptors.

The skin: a living and permeable organ

We often forget that the skin is our largest organ. It breathes, absorbs, and eliminates.
When a garment contains chemical residues or releases plastic microparticles, these elements can cross the skin barrier, particularly in sensitive areas (such as underwear, sportswear worn next to the skin, or those worn for a long time).
In the long term, this exposure can tire our body, disrupt our hormonal balance, or trigger inflammatory reactions.

Wearing non-toxic clothing is a different way of taking care of yourself

At PRESTESSE , we believe that clothing can become an ally of the body.
We chose to create a second-skin wardrobe made from natural, innovative, and non-toxic materials. Our fibers are selected for their softness, breathability, and kindness to the skin: no endocrine disruptors, no harsh dyes, no compromise.

Wearing PRESTESSE means choosing clothing that respects your body, offers you comfort, supports your movements and prolongs your well-being.

Because true luxury today is wearing clothes that take care of you.
